Welcome to La Petite Ferme Gites
La Petite Ferme Gites comprises of three stone gites in the heart of the beautiful village of Dampierre sur Boutonne in the Charente Maritime countryside. The buildings date back to the early 1800s and were originally part of a working farm. Each gite has been renovated, keeping as much of the original features and stonework as possible Each gite possesses a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining areas, with their own outdoor terrace area with seating and a BBQ or plancher.
The Farmhouse has 3 bedrooms, sleeping 6, the Barn has one bedroom & is spacious for 2 adults, but can easily accommodate an additional 2 people, Fig Tree Cottage with it's downstairs bedroom is ideal for 2 people.
The 3 gites share a lovely 10 x 5m heated swimming pool, complete with sunbeds, parasols and a lounge area with rattan sofas and armchairs. A perfect place to relax. The pool area is in the sun for the whole day, but we provide ample parasols for those who prefer the shade. Our large covered Games Barn is extremely popular with both adults and children, with a variety of games and activities to keep everyone amused. There is also a shared grassed area for children to play.
La Petite Ferme Gites are in the heart of the village and only a two minute walk from the village shop, where you can pick up your breakfast pastries and bread every morning. Thibaut, the shop owner stocks a wide range of food & everyday necessities. He also sells hot food including pizzas, paninis and tacos. Dampierre is also blessed with a quirky little bar, Le Garage a Papi, where you can sit in the evenings enjoying a glass of wine, watching the sun go down behind the Chateau opposite. In summer, there are offen concerts in the attached orchard on a Sunday. It's a great place to chill out & meet some of the local inhabitants Across the road from the bar is the beautiful Chateau de Dampierre, which dates back to the 10th Century. Towering above the gites is the equally impressive Eglise de Saint Pierre (Church of St Peter). Both of these historic buildings are open daily and definitely worth a visit. In the summer there is also a shop where local artisans sell their produce & a small boutique. Dampierre is a charming Charentais village.
We are an 8 minute drive from Aulnay & a 20 minutes from St Jean D'Angely, both are lovely medieval towns with bars, restaurants, twice weekly markets, supermarkets and other shops as well as a host of historical monuments and buildings.
