Ile de Re

Île de Ré is an island of the coast of La Rochelle, accessed by a bridge. It’s known for its salt marshes, beaches, backed by dunes and pine trees. The Phare des Baleines is a lighthouse offering expansive views. The main town of St-Martin-de-Ré has the 17th-century Fortifications of Vauban, plus outdoor cafes overlooking the marina. Bicycle paths crisscross the island and bike can be hired across the island. Other towns worth visiting are Le Flotte & Ars-en-Re. A stunning and relaxed place to spend a day.
